Howard T. Ennis (HTE)
Students enrolled in the Howard T. Ennis' (HTE) preschool program participate in an inclusive classroom with students who have been identified with significant developmental delays. The classroom supports the needs of students with complex needs as well as typically developing 3, 4, and 5 year olds (not yet in kindergarten), with half of the students being selected from each category. Our enrollment varies from year to year as it is dependent upon the special needs population.
Pre-K 3 year old classes in this program follow the half day schedule for the IRSD and transportation is provided to and from school. Pre-K 4 year old classes in this program follow the full day schedule for the IRSD and transportation is provided to and from school. HTE program offerings include weekly: music therapy, swimming, and special area rotations (PE, Daily Living Skills). Several community outings and field trips are scheduled each year. Breakfast and lunch are offered daily as well.
Staff are certified by the DE Department of Education and DE First. All classrooms have a lead teacher, para-educators, and the support of occupational, physical, and speech/language therapists. Student to staff ratios in each classroom are in compliance with student need and follow OCCL regulations.
